Meet Sheenna McKenzie

Sheenna McKenzie was born on October 11, 1987, in Auburndale. She attended Auburndale High School where she graduated from high school in 2006. She received her Associates in Arts Degree from Polk State College in 2009, received her Bachelors in Social Work Degree from Florida A&M University, and received her Masters of Social Work Degree from University of Central Florida. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Social Work Degree from Capella University.

She is currently employed as a school social worker at Donald E. Woods Opportunity.  She also works PRN as a medical social worker at Lakeland Regional Health. In 2013, she started her non-profit organization, It’s A Girls’ World Foundation, Incorporated. Her organization mentors young girls in the central Florida area through Youth Empowerment Seminars and their year round mentoring program, Girl Talk. Her organization also mentors at Boys & Girls Club where they incorporate the importance of inner beauty, self-respect, and self-love as well. She is also involved in the Youth and Dance Ministry at her church, Greater Works Ministries.

When not busy volunteering or doing homework, Sheenna enjoys spending time with her family and friends. This is Sheenna’s third year being involved with the Junior League of Greater Lakeland. She has served on the Provisional and Pro-Am Tennis Tournament & JLGL Ball Committee.

When asked what her goals were for JLGL, she stated that she wants the League to continue to grow and continue to empower women by teaching them the importance of becoming a leader, mentor and role model in the community. Being a part of the JLGL has taught Sheenna the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community.
