The Junior League of Greater Lakeland, Inc is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Junior League is exclusively educational and charitable.
Lakeland Pig Festival
Lakeland Pig Festival is the Florida State Barbecue Championship. What started as a small festival in 1997 has evolved into a festival with over 300 BBQ teams and over 30,000 in attendance!
The Junior League of Greater Lakeland has provided volunteers to help run the event for the last decade. The pig festival has generated over $100,000 in contributions to charitable organizations within Polk County since 1997.

World of Reading Festival
March 20, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Barnett Park in downtown Lakeland
The Junior League of Greater Lakeland (JLGL) will hold its Fifth Annual World of Reading Festival at Barnett Park near the Lake Mirror Promenade in downtown Lakeland on Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The free event will take children on a journey through five countries where they will work on crafts, learn about the country and develop knowledge on the importance of reading in the home. Upon completion of the journey, each child will receive a free book.
Throughout the day, attendees will experience guest readers and performances, as well as inflatable play activities for entertainment.
